John Netting

Director of Member Services

John Netting started in Financial Services in an advisory capacity and moved into a Compliance role in 1998 with Financial Options Network. He remained with the business once taken over by Misys during which he worked with members of members of three of the firm’s networks, (Financial Options, Kestrel and Countrywide).

In July 2002 he joined Park Row as Compliance Oversight and Board Director before leaving to co-found Sense Network in 2007.  Until mid-2019 John had overall responsibility for the regulatory compliance support supplied to members but he now undertakes a member relationship role.

Leanne Williams

Operations & Finance Director

Leanne has been at Sense since June 2007 and has held a variety of positions before becoming Operations & Finance Director. As well as responsibility for Group finances, her role includes overseeing the adviser payments team, office operations, marketing and HR. Leanne also takes responsibility within Sense for data protection since the advent of the GDPR.

A law graduate from the University of Manchester, Leanne holds a number of professional qualifications including the LPC and a Diploma in Financial Planning, as well as being a CIMA qualified Management Accountant.

Rosie Ashbrook

Head of Business Support

Rosie has been in Insurance and Financial Services for over 30 years, for 20 of these working in various compliance roles at a large network and a directly authorised national IFA firm before joining Sense. Rosie is a compliance ‘all-rounder’ with considerable management experience.

Her experience and core knowledge of the industry, compliance and systems such as Intelligent Office means that, with the support of her team, she can provide valued assistance in a wide variety of areas. Helping both new firms starting their journey with Sense and existing members looking to improve their processes.

Tim Davis

Membership Director
Over the last 30 years Tim has gained extensive experience as a distribution development executive for asset management, network, service provider, financial institution, wealth management and technology firms. As a member of our senior management team he has responsibility for our future technology strategy, member retention and new member growth.

Jason Kirk

Compliance Director
Jason has worked in financial services since 1987 and has spent the majority of that time in compliance related roles for a large insurance company, a number of networks, a large national financial advisory business and a compliance consultancy firm. Jason has overall responsibility for the regulatory support for Appointed Representatives of Sense via its compliance functions.

Phil Young

Executive Chairman

Phil has worked in variety of roles, all supporting financial advisers, since 1996. He was a co-founder of threesixty, and it's Managing Director until 2017, when he left to set up his own consultancy, Zero Support, which supports business owners in their growth plans. He has been involved with Sense since inception and has had two stints as a Non-Exec Director, most recently from 2016 to 2018 after which he became Chairman.

Steve Young

Non Executive Director

Steve Young has spent his entire career in financial services. A banker by training, Steve held senior sales and marketing roles at Halifax and Sesame before joining Sense in 2012 as Commercial Director. Steve became Sense's Chairman in 2014.

Steve retired from this role in 2018 and now acts as an independent Director on the Sense board.

Catherine Mellor

Head of Development

Catherine’s extensive financial services experience includes management and oversight of adviser propositions, compliance, project and operations teams. At Sense, Catherine’s primary area of focus is managing Sense’s Development Programme - a variety of events, webinars and online content provided to help advisers and business owners refresh and develop their professional knowledge, skills and competencies. Catherine also sits on Sense’s Investment Committee and helps advice firms design, review and articulate their investment propositions.

Rory Percival

Non-Executive Director

Rory Percival was ‘the face of the FCA’ to advisory firms for many years.  He worked at the regulator for 10 years and was involved with many high profile projects such as risk profiling, centralised investment propositions, the RDR, research and due diligence, and the assessing suitability review as well as speaking regularly at conferences. 

Prior to joining the regulator Rory worked in the advisory for sector for 20 years mainly in compliance and training roles.  He has Chartered Financial Planner status. In November 2016 he launched his own firm – Rory Percival Training and Consultancy Ltd to help support professionalism in the advisory sector. He is also a member of the Personal Finance Society Board.

Carl Taylor

Head of Training & Competence

Carl has worked in financial services since 1990 and has spent the majority of this time in a mix of compliance and T&C related roles for a large insurance company, a number of networks as well as worked as a Business Risk Consultant for a compliance consultancy firm.

Carl has overall responsibility for the Training & Competence team who are responsible for supporting any new advisers and firms work through their Induction process as well as supporting existing advisers with their adherence to the T&C scheme.
